It will be a New Year bash with a difference. 'Indianmandarins' has learnt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a meeting of Union Secretaries on Dec 31 at 6 pm to take a stock of the work done in 2015 and to sketch out a roadmap for 2016 to further improve the ease of doing business in the country. Through his vigorous and personal engagement with global investors and funding agencies through 2015, NaMo is said to have veered round to the view that a great deal requires to be done at political and administrative level in 2016 if India has to attract the kind of investment it is looking for funding its infra and manufacturing projects.
While the meeting will be an occasion to renew and strengthen his rapport with top level officers, the PM is likely to seek the personal suggestion of each of the secretaries in reforming the government's decision-making process so that any demand of investors could be readily addressed to.
Once the ideas crystallize through the meeting, they will be passed on to officials down the line for active implementation. This will be done either by the Cabinet Secretary himself or by a group of secretaries that could be set up for the purpose.
