Even though the appointment G C Murmu (IAS:GJ:1985) as JS, Expenditure (GoI) has been cleared by ACC the heat of murmuring can clearly be gauged by level of eagerness in the power corridors.  Murmu is yet to be relieved by the Govt of Gujarat as search of his successor as Principal Secretary to CM is still going on. Murmu is one among few IAS officers of 1985 batch who may afford to rest assured for empanelment as Additional Secretary. The very aspect has raised the curiosity bars as which important assignment must have been foreseen for him as Additional Secretary. After all Murmu is one among few confidantes of Narendra Modi who has been successfully matching up to the expectations of this master for over a decade. Many in the power corridors say that he may be positioned as ED Chief after AS empanelment but few belive that some other strategic assignment must have been destined for him. But there has been a unanimous opinion across India's top rank bureaucrats that whatever assignment Murmu will get it will emanate from Modi's mandate.
