Mumbai (12.02.2022): The Maharashtra government submitted before a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice M S Karnik of Bombay High Court that it was prepared to reconsider its stand and take an appropriate decision on appointment of a DGP by February 21, 2022. A PIL filed by Datta Mane sought directions to the state to not delay the appointment of a full-time DGP based on three shortlisted names in compliance with a 2006 Supreme Court judgment. The names shortlisted did not include the state’s senior-most IPS officer Sanjay Pandey, who was given additional charge as DGP last April following the transfer of former DGP Subodh Jaiswal to Delhi on deputation.
