The Public Enterprises Selection Board, on 16 December 2016, selected S Gopu, Director (HR), ITI for the post of Chairman & Managing Director, Indian Telephone Industries Limited.
Reportedly five candidates appeared before PESB for selection interview namely: Antony Chako (CMD, KSRTC); N L Manjoka (Director, HUDCO); M K Seth (Principal GM, BSNL) and Rajesh Kumar (GM, BSNL).
Subject to requisite clearance ACC will ratify his appointment shortly.
The CMD post fell vacant on May 04, 2015 following the retirement of K L Dhingra. Though PESB made an effort to select the successor of Dhingra on April 28 last year but all it went in vain as only two candidates appeared before PESB which further decided to see more candidates.
Presently P K Gupta (Director, Marketing) holds the additional charge of CMD, ITI. It may be noted that Gupta's tenure of additional charge of CMD was extended for a month (w.e.f November 01, 2016) on December 15, 2016.
