Cabinet expansion in Maharashtra may happen before the Monsoon Session which starts on July 4 in Nagpur. The demise of senior Cabinet member Pandurang Fundkar, who had held the portfolio of Agriculture and the resignation of Dr Deepak Sawant, Minister for Public Health necessitated the reshuffle.
BJP leaders said that this reshuffle can be the last before the General and state elections. The maximum strength of the Cabinet can be 43 and currently there are 38 ministers. There could be dropping of few non-performing ministers and replacing them with fresh faces.
