[caption id="attachment_21591" align="alignnone" width="299"] File Photo[/caption] Baldeo Purushartha (IAS:2002:PB) has been selected for international achiever award for conducting street vending project in Chandigarh for 2016 by Indian Achievers' Forum. The award for excellence will be conferred upon him for conducting the survey in a record time. The award will be presented during the global achiever summit in Bangkok on November 11. The award presentation ceremony will be inaugurated by Kuon Kom Dabbaransi, former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, as chief guest. He received several awards at the national and state level in recognition of his proactive and innovative approach to administration. MC's move had invited the ire of Traders Union as it ensured that no street vendor (approx 15,000 street vendors) would be challaned until the survey be completed and the certificate of vending be issued to all street vendors. It alleged that MC collects tax from traders worth crore of rupees but it supports street vendors. The street vendors' survey was conducted in a record time facilitating the implementation of provisions of Street Vendors Act, 2014 and guidelines of Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. The rule regulates the street vending and provides protection from eviction or relocation.
