The outgoing Chief Secretary to the Govt of Uttar Pradesh Alok Ranjan (IAS:1978:UP) has been appointed Chief Adviser to Akhilesh Singh Yadav, UP Chief Minister. He is completing his three month extension tenure period today. Ranjan is believed to have been retained in the government with Cabinet minister rank as he has been looking after many important projects, which are supposed to be completed before Assembly elections due early next year. Ranjan retired on March 31 this year, but was granted three-month extension after approval from Government of India.
