Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet is all set to clear the appointment of 1981 batch IRS (IT) officers to the post of Principal Chief Commissioner, Income Tax (PCCIT). Reportedly, the orders are expected this week.
It may be noted that out of sanctioned 26 posts of PCCIT 24 are vacant. Currently only two officers; Abrar Ahmed and K C Jain (Chandigarh) are occupying the post of CPCCIT. Abrar Ahmed is set to vacate the post as he has already appointed in IT Settlement Commission. The third post fell vacant yesterday following the appointment of Ajit Kumar Srivastava's (PCCIT, Chennai) appointment as Member, CBDT.
