The inordinate delay in the appointment of BPR&D Chief may suggest that that S Javeed Ahmed's (IPS:1984:UP) prospect for the post might have been reduced, if not scuttled altogether.
Sources believe it is unlikely that he may miss the top job. The proposal to appoint him as BPR&D Chief was supposed to have been cleared by the ACC along with the files of NIA & SSB Chief which happened in the mid of September but Javeed's file got stuck.
Indianmandarins had reported first on 19 Sept 2017 that S Javeed Ahmed (IPS:1984:UP) may be appointed the DG of Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), but it appears that his selection might have run into some obstacles.
Earlier, Indianmandarins has reported that S Javeed Ahmed (IPS:1984:UP) may be named as the successor to Meera C Borwankar (IPS:1981:MH). Ahmad, former UP police chief, was on May 03, 2017 appointed as DG of National Institute of Criminology & Forensic Science (NICFS).
Ms. Borwankar retired on 30th September and BPR&D had remained headless since. Further, the additional charge of BPR&D was given this week to NSG Chief Sudhir Pratap Singh (IPS:1983:RJ) which indicates that there may be some reconsideration on the issue.
