Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the search-cum-selection-committee on selecting a new DGCA may meet tomorrow. Headed by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha, it may shortlist three names for the post of Directorate General Civil Aviation. The post fell vacant after M Sathiavathy (IAS:1982:UT) was appointed as OSD, Ministry of Labour & Employment. Currently, B S Bhullar (JS in the Civil Aviation Ministry) is holding the additional charge of DGCA since 29 July 2016.
Indianmandarins had reported on May 24, 2016 (web link below) that B S Bhullar (IAS:1986:UP) had brighter prospects for the DGCA post. Further, on 16 July 2016 (web link below) Indianmandarins reported that Prashant Sukul’s (IDAS) name was also doing the rounds for the coveted post as he’s credited with wide experience in the civil aviation sector and represented India in the ICAO, Montreal (Canada).
If everything goes well, the new DGCA will be named by the first week of November.
