New Delhi (22.04.2024): Somanath Shivarudrappa Ukkali (IRS IT:2004) has been debarred from all kinds of central deputation for a period of five years w.e.f. 09.02.2024. In addition, he is also debarred from being given cadre clearance for any foreign assignment/consultancies abroad during the period of debarment as per the extant policy.
Ukkali was appointed as CVO, HMT Ltd, Bengaluru under the Ministry of Heavy Industries vide order dated 09.02.2024 but he had informed that he is not in a position to assume the charge of the post of CVO, HMT Ltd. The Department of Revenue ordered dated 11.03.2024 was requested to bring the implications of not joining the assignment to the notice of Ukkali so that on a later date, he may not represent that the adverse consequences of not joining as CVO, HMT Ltd were not brought to his notice.
The Department went ahead with cancellation of his appointment and notify the debarment with attendant consequences. Ministry of Heavy Industries has informed that Ukkali that since he did not assume the charge the aforesaid appointment is hereby cancelled.
