Rahul Gandhi stepped in on Tuesday without success to sort out the differences between Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and state Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay. With Assembly elections round the corner, the Congress high command is apparently worried about the impact of their conflict on election performance. Upadhyay did not attend the meeting called by Rahul as he was said to be unwell. Upadhyay, who was once considered a Rawat man, became his critic after he did not get the Rajya Sabha seat he was hoping for. The latest in the tussle was Upadhyay was not invited for the inauguration of a government tourism festival in Tehri, his home ground, on Sunday.
