New Delhi (09.03.2024): Sudha Murty has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the President of India and news broke with Prime Minister Modi tweeting it on the occasion of International Women’s Day i.e. March 8. Naysays will say that it’s a political move by the BJP government just before the LS Polls. But does this decision have just one meaning. No certainly not.

Political parties do take such decisions that may benefit them electorally but some decisions are force multipliers. To understand it better, the Congress had won Assembly elections in the state where there is Silicone Valley – Karnataka -- but the BJP has won heart of people just before Lok Sabha elections by nominating Sudha Murty. She belongs to Bangalore which is also the city of Infosys. The most interesting aspect of this decision is that she personifies that famous English adage that there is a woman behind every successful man and in this case the successful man is Narayan Murty – the founder and now mentor of Infosys.

Sudha Murthy’s down to earth image makes her popular among every age group of women folks even in various other sections of the society. A qualified engineer, an author, motivational speaker, philanthropist and social worker whose son-in-law Rishi Sunak heads the government of India’s former colonisers – The Great Britain. This makes Sudha Murty certainly very special and it is only Narendra Modi who can take such decisions.
