DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant (IAS:1980:KL) getting the additional charge of CEO, NITI Aayog following the completion of tenure of Ms. Sindhushree Khullar (Rtd IAS:1975:UT) on December 31, 2015 has set people guessing.
Kant is known for powering NaMo’s favourite ‘Make in India’ campaign. Before he is scheduled to retire on February 28, his department would hold a mega make in India week in Mumbai from February 13-18. To be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, the event is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 companies and participants from 60 countries. Will the success of the event pave the way for Kant to get confirmed as CEO of Niti Aayog?
People in power corridors consider it as more than coincidence that Kant was given the additional charge at a time when his retirement date was at hand. Top bosses across ministries have started terming it as an example of advance succession planning’ on part of top bosses in PMO.
