Govt depts to get ‘Web- Ratna Awards’ on 26 March on e-gov initiatives

National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Communications and IT Ministry will felicitate government departments that have done exemplary work and made innovations in e-governance initiatives on web-based platform or Internet. Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will give away awards to various departments on March 25.

There is information that Web Ratna Awards have played a pivotal role in promoting use of world wide web platform as an effective tool for the e-governance whereas at the same time it has also encouraged numerous departments to take up and replicate innovations. Since its inception in 2009, the awards have seen two editions, one in 2010 and the other in 2012. Prominent winners of the awards included Indian Railways, India Post, Gujarat Tourism, Department of Economic Affairs, All India Radio and DRDO.
