Perhaps taking a cue from PM Narendra Modi’s emphasis on new work culture, nowadays several ministries and departments are trying to infuse enthusiasm and motivation in their officers and inculcate team spirit for achieving organisational goals.
Recently, the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals (GoI) and CIPET organized a two-day workshop at Lavasa, near Pune (January 16 & 17, 2015) on “Leadership and Motivation.”
Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, inaugurated the workshop which was later taken over by Prof. Ashish Nanda, Director, IIM Ahmedabad and Prof. Ajay Pandey, Dean (Programmes), IIM Ahmedabad. Group Physical Exercises, Yoga, and nutrition classes were enthusiastically attended by officials from the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, CIPET, HOCL, HIL, HFL, IPFT and BCPL. As organisers of the initiative Secretary, Surjit K Chaudhary (IAS:1980:TN) and Joint Secretary,Avinash P Das Joshi (IAS:1994:AM) found themselves involved thickly into the workshop.
Now it is the turn of Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change. The Union Minister Prakash Javdekar is organising a two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Bengaluru (February 08-09) which will be attended by approximately 200 officers under his ministry.
Management Guru Prof. Ashish Nanda (IIM, Ahmedabad) taught the officers of Department of Chemical & Petrochemical the art of increasing the efficiency and productivity in Lavasa City whereas spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar of ‘Art of Living Foundation will guide the officers of MoEF&CC through stress management & spirituality.
