Delhi SHRC head to be selected on Friday (today)

The Delhi government may select the chairperson of the capital’s proposed State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in a meeting on Friday (today).
Some of the candidates shortlisted by the government are Justice Uma Nath Singh, chief justice of Meghalaya, Justice Bhagwati Prasad, chief justice of Jharkhand, and Justice B A Khan, former chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir.
The names of three human rights activists Raj Mangal Prasad, S C Agarwal and Indu Prakash have also been proposed for the commission.
The state human rights commission will comprise a chairperson who has to be the former chief justice of a high court, a member who is either a current or former high court justice or district judge in National Capital Territory (NCT) Delhi with minimum seven years of experience and another member who has knowledge or practical experience in the field of human rights.
