With Sarbanand Sonowal taking over as the BJP president of Assam unit, the party is making every move very carefully. Having Bihar debacle in mind that apparently had happened due to bruising local sentiments, the BJP is treading cautiously this time round at least for now. Schism between locals and Hindi speaking people in Assam is so much so that state chief minister has started giving overtones to make it an issue in the elections sending the BJP in jitters and forcing the party to rely mostly on Mati ke Manus (local leaders) in Assam. The BJP plans less of leaders from Hindi-speaking areas while other leaders will be sent there. Party president Amit Shah has initiated the move by appointing Sarbanand Sonobal for the hustings.
