With the approaching retirement of CBDT chairman Sushil Chandra (IRS IT:1980), the power corridors are agog with rumors that he may be given a post-retirement plum posting. Sources indicated that that govt may even grant him a year extension. Indianmandarins has learnt that he is also being considered for appointment as Election Commissioner in ECI or Member, UPSC.
Chandra replaced Ms Rani Singh Nayar on 01 November 2016 and is scheduled to retire on 31 May this year. A post of Election Commissioner will fall vacant in July this year.
