Union Minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal is steadily emerging as the chief spokesman of the government on each and every knotty issues - a job that was being earlier handled by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. And this has set tongues wagging in official circles.
Take, for example, the case when S&P's latest rating came out last week that held India to its lowest investment grade. No prizes for guessing: it was Goyal who was seen reacting.
The ratings that would usually elicit a response from the FM or the ministry of finance had Goyal commenting and fire-fighting. And this is not the first time that Goyal jumped to his Government's defense. He had earlier led the debate on the Goods and Services Tax in the Rajya Sabha.
