Indianmandarins learnt that the ministry is all set to take Search-cum-selection (SCSC) route for selection new CMD for Andrew Yule & Co Ltd. The incumbent CMD Kallol Dutta is scheduled to superannuate on March 31 next year. The selection interview was held on October 19 this year but PESB didn't find any candidate suitable for the job. Insiders say that finding none suitable from among fifteen candidates (who appeared for interview) was a clear indication that there might be a plan to go for SCSC route. Interestingly, the post has not been even re-advertised yet even after the selection interview went in-vain. One can wait and watch till SCSC route is declared officially. The company was started in 1863 in Kolkata by Andrew Yule, a young entrepreneur from Scotland. By 1875 the Company established substantial business interest in jute, tea, cotton, coal and insurance.
