Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash
Javdekar had already announced handing over content dissemination of the public
broadcaster to professionals but what transpired in the US that infuriated the
minister so much so that he had gone to the extent of saying that babus in news
business take ages for the work that could be done in seconds. The minister minces no words when he has to say
anything as the present dispensation is more bothered about delivery. Both the
PM and I&B minister are in the US on different official assignment but the
way things were handled, that disappointed the minister who short of pressed
the panic button by saying that professionals from outside must be brought in. Minister’s outburst even got recorded in the
television camera sending a ripple in the officials responsible for the job as
traditionally visiting foreign countries with the PM or any minister was
considered to be a leisure trip with not so much to do professionally. But this
seems to be passé with the Modi government.
