The public sector headhunter on 24 May 2017 picked K V S Baba for the post of Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO) a fully independent CPSE (under Ministry of Power). POSOCO was on 03rd January 2017 carved out from Power Grid Corporation Ltd (PGCIL).The subsidiary was eventually made a separate company, leaving the parent firm (PGCIL) with only the task of setting up transmission links. Formed in March 2010 on the recommendations of Girish B Pradhan Committee (the then AS in MoP) to handle the power management functions of PGCIL, it was a wholly owned subsidiary of PGCIL till 2 January 2017. Armed with 05 Regional Load Despatch Centres (RLDC) and a National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), it shoulders the responsibility of ensuring the integrated operation of the Grid in a reliable, efficient manner. The public sector headhunter had set the ball rolling for the appointment of first CMD of POSOCO on 09 March 2017. As many as six candidates had appeared for selection interview namely; K V S Baba (CEO, POSOCO); Sanjiv Singh (ED, PGCIL); Anil Jain (ED, PGCIL); Ms Seema Gupta (ED, PGCIL); Subir Sen (ED, PGCIL); Rajib Kumar Mishra (Dir, Mkt, PTC India).
