12 IRS (IT) officers from the 1982 batch may soon be empanelled for the post of Principal Chief Commissioner (IT) - the Apex Scale post. The DPC for the same was held on 31 July 2017 which may soon be cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. In addition to 12 officers belonging to 1982 batch, one from the 1981 batch is also there on the empanelment list but he may miss the opportunity as he is set to retire in the next two days. It may be noted that the cadre restructuring of IRS (IT) had in yr 2013 brought 26 posts to the cadre in Apex Scale for CBDT.
