Vohra appointed India’s next Ambassador to Afghanistan

Amar sinha IFS, Manpreet Vohra IFS

As ‘Indianmandarins’ anticipated in its report dated September 29 Manpreet Vohra (IFS:1988) has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Afghanistan. In his new stint Vohra will shortly succeed Amar Sinha (IFS:1982) after Sinha would move from Kabul to New Delhi to take over as Secretary (East).

Vohra is presently posted in MEA HQ (Delhi) as Joint Secretary, Development Partnership Administration-I. Prior to his present assignment (MEA HQ) he served as India’s Ambassador to Peru from May 2011 to April 2015. Sources say that during his three and a half year long tenure trade between India and Peru had doubled despite the absence of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
