The NaMo administration on Tuesday extended the tenure of Ravindra Narayanan Ravi (Retd IPS:1976:KL) for a period of one year. Ravi, the incumbent Chairman of Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) was appointed to this post in August 2014 for a period of three years, on contract on re-employment basis. His tenure was scheduled to end this month.
Ravi had retired from the post of Special Director, Intelligence Bureau and was later (in August 2014) picked by Modi Govt as Chief of JIC vice Ajit Lal.
It may be mentioned that Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) is the apex intelligence assessment body of the country which functions under the National Security Council Secretariat.
