Taking cue from PM Narendra Modi’s pro-women initiatives, be it ‘Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao’ scheme or giving preference to a woman officer to escort US President Barack Obama for the Gaurd of Honour and many more such examples. Now the market regulator SEBI has asked all listed companies to appoint one woman director on their boards and on failing it the companies would have to face regulatory action. With very little time left for this, SEBI has already written letters to 160 such companies and some of them have already replied on this. The deadline for the companies to appoint a director has been set as April 1, 2015. Some noble ideas of governance!
