‘Indianmandarins’ has reliably learnt that a new post of additional secretary may be created in the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation (MDWS) as both issues of drinking water and sanitation are part of the Prime Minister’s plan to outreach the maximum number of people in 600,000 villages of the country. Reportedly, the Department of Expenditure has approved the same and it may also be ratified by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) this week.
Currently the MDWS has only two Jt Secretaries to assist the departmental secretary. And the department was feeling constrained in discharging its huge social responsibilities that include multi-level coordination with states and their agencies. It is expected that the creation of the new post of additional secretary will ease the stress level in MDWS.
