No Board-level selection in November; a rare thing

This November has been rather unusual in the history of PESB as the board is used to conducting selection interview for more than a dozen board-level position in Central PSUs every month. Sometimes the number approach 16-18 interviews every month.

But this November, PESB did not hold a single interview. Those in the know of affairs in PESB say that 10-11 years back, there was a phase when PESB didn’t conduct any single interview for a couple of months. But in the recent past, this November month proved to be a rare one.

The last selection interview held by the PESB was on October 28, 2016 – of Director (Finance) BPCL. It’s 30th November, which means that no Board level selection has been made in the last 32 days.
Nor has the PESB advertised any board level post after September 09, 2016. Incidentally, it didn’t advertise even a single board-level post in August, October & November. It normally advertises 12 posts every month. For example, in April this year, it advertised 12 posts (including five CMD level posts) and in May it advertised as many as 17 top posts.

It is said the PESB is busy deciding the modalities to comply with its June 10, 2016, notification which has opened the doors for Pvt Sector executives and State PSU executives for Board level positions in Central Public sector Enterprises (CPSEs). Its Chairman recently held a series of meeting with over a dozen CMDs of PSUs to handle the delicate issue.
