Nihlani

The noted film-maker Pahlaj Nihalani has been appointed as Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) as the successor of Leela Samson who had triggered a war of words with the BJP government followed by her resignation including 12 other members of CBFC. Nihlani will be serving in the chair for a period of three years in an honorary capacity.

As many as nine other members have also been taken freshly on board with the Film Sensor Board namely; Vani Tripathi Tikoo (BJP leader), Professor Syed Abdul Bari (VC, Central University Gujarat), Mihir Bhuta (film-writer), noted film-makers Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and Ashoke Pandit, George Baker (an actor who contested on a BJP ticket from Howrah in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections), S Ve Sekhar (Tamil playwright), Jeevitha (actor-filmmaker) and Ramesh Patange (editor of a Marathi weekly magazine).

Interestingly ‘rebels without a cause’ had become Jaitley’s tag-line for the war of words between Leela Samson and Jaitley.
