New Delhi (26.02.2021): The IPS Association is ashamed and deeply disturbed over the alleged sexual harassment of a young TN cadre lady IPS officer by none other than the state's special DG for law and order, Rajesh Das, a 1989 batch IPS officer.

Despite attempts at hushing up the case, the state government was left with no choice but to order an official inquiry. The state government was constrained to do it because all the young IPS officers, through the state and national IPS Associations, brought irresistible pressure on the state government which calculated that the scandal had the potential to damage the ruling party's political fortunes at the hustings in April-May this year.

So Das was put on a compulsory wait and an official committee was constituted to probe into the official complaint filed by the lady IPS officer.

The six-member official committee is headed by Additional Chief Secretary (planning and development) Jayashree Raghunandan and includes as members  Additional DGP  Seema Agarwal, IGP A Arun (IGP), DIG Shamoondeswari, DGP office's chief administrative officer VK Ramesh Babu, and Loretta Jhona, who head Program Management at International Justice Mission, Chennai.

Detailing the Indianmandarins about the incident that took place on Monday at  Paranur toll plaza, 59KMs from Chennai, young IPS officers revealed how Das had offered the young lady officer a ride in his vehicle since both were headed to the same districts as part of the Chief Minister's visit to the central districts. During the trip, Das had allegedly sexually misbehaved with her.

Subsequently, after doing her duty, when the lady officer was headed to Chennai to file the complaint, Das made his subordinates forcibly prevent her from reaching the state capital.

Young IPS officers have revealed to the Indianmandarins that quite a few senior police officers acted as bullies and played psycho games to dissuade the lady officer from filing her complaint through their illegitimate and brazen move to forcibly stopping her vehicle at Paranur toll gate and then literally pushed and shoved her into a building near the gate in their failed attempt to play stupid mind games with her.

Indianmandarins has been told that an IG level officer and a Superintendent of Police allegedly attempted to protect Das. These officers and their men were so desperate that at one stage they removed the keys from the lady officer's official car and allegedly insisted that she talk to Das and sort out the matter.

When the lady officer warned these senior officers that she may be forced to complain about them too, they got scared and returned the keys of her official vehicle.
