New Delhi (05.03.2021): Indianmandarins has reliably learned that the non-confirmation of the services of Aniruddh Prasad Singh who has been working as Director (Finance) in the Electronics Corporation of India (ECIL) on the basis of performance is a rare case. 

Though he was appointed to the post in December 2019, the Joint Committee meeting held at Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) was constrained to non-confirmation of his service on account of his overall performance. 

According to the rules of procedure for the PSUs, after the completion of one year of appointment to a Board-level position, the performance of a Board-level executive is assessed and the services are confirmed or non-confirmed accordingly. The CMD of the concerned PSU, Secretary of the administrative ministry, and the PESB together conduct the joint appraisal.

It is to be noted that while non-extension (beyond the term of appointment cleared by the ACC) of tenure is common in the PSUs, non-confirmation for a board posting is exceptional.

If ill-luck hadn't hit Singh, he would have continued in his job till December 2024, and subject to the extension he would have continued at the Board-level position till his retirement in November 2030.
