Modi, mass-media and myth?

There has been a common understanding that Modi has strong disliking for mass media and  he tries to keep media away. Modi’s deliberate decision of not appointing a Media Adviser is often cited as the testimony to it. But is seems a myth only.

PM Narendra Modi is open to news that is in the interest of masses and the country and not the news that interests the masses. Modi is handling media aptly breaking the myth that he is not media-friendly. He seized the opportunity on 15 August to announce Swachch Bharat Mission. Media was very well used on Sardar Patel’s birthday to propagate it as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Birthday of Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was also widely covered. PM is on radio for Man Ki Baat. He tweets, updates his Facebook account and interacts with TV channels in his own way. Narendra Modi seems quite liberal while allowing media-persons to click ‘selfies’ with him.
