New year has begun for M Gopal Reddy ((IAS:1985:MP) with Lady Luck smiling at him. On January 1, he got the charge of UT from Sailesh. Currently, he holds the important charge of Police-I, UT, Internal Cooperation and Coordination.
In fact, Lady luck started smiling at Reddy from last month itself. His central deputation was to end on December 7, but on that day, his name appeared on the list of review empanelment of Additional Secretary/Equivalent along with seven of his batch-mates. Call it a chance, or call it providence, Reddy’s deputation has seen multiple short extensions: on October 9, his first extension till December 7 was extended till December 31. And this extension was again stretched till January 7.
Reddy must be as amused as his colleagues at the turn of events in the past six months in his career. From shock, it’s absolutely euphoric. On June 23 last year, he was taken aback by the absence of his name in the list of 55 officers empanelled from his batch for promotion to AS level. So he requested for including his name in the first review empanelment. Finally he made it. Not only this a Joint Secretary rank post was temporarily upgraded to Additional Secretary rank so that he could continue in MHA as AS. From then on, he didn’t have to look back.
