If some well placed sources are to be believed 1998 batch IAS officers are expected to be empanelled as Joint Secretary by March 10. Reportedly, the file was again sent to ACC for approval on January 27. As many as 54 officers are aspiring to see themselves on the list out of which only 40 have brighter prospects.
Indianmandarins, on December 16, 2015, had reported that Prime Minister’s Office returned the file pertaining to the Joint Secretary empanelment of 1998 batch IAS officers.
PM had made his intent clear to the authorities that he wanted to bring down the constant gap (in JS empanelment) between IAS and other services early this year. The very aspiration of PM is being cited as the prime reason of returning the file to DOPT.
