In yet another fresh and fast development in ‘Indian Bureaucracy’ D S Dhesi (IAS:1982:HY) finally makes it as new Chief Secretary of Haryana. Dhesi will take charge from P K Gupta, the outgoing CS, on December 31. Presently he is at centre serving as Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce.
Insiders say that there was no such proposal from Haryana Government till the third week of December demanding Dhesi’s repatriation for the top job even though Dhesi’s name has never been out of race since the new government was formed in the state.
The ongoing buzz over Dhesi’s name as next CS gained momentum, reportedly, in last 72 hours when Haryana chief minister wrote to the government of India to approve and relieve Dhesi for the top job. Yesterday Dhesi appointed as new CS to the Government of Haryana.
Praveen Kumar Gupta (IAS:1981:HY), the outgoing CS, is superannuating on December 31. He was expected for an extension for three months beyond Dec 31. Probably the need for stability and endurance in state bureaucracy would have prompted Haryana CM to go for a fresh appointment of CS rather than a further extension to the outgoing Chief Secretary P K Gupta.
