‘Indianmandarins’ reliably learns that the tenure of D K Mittal (Rtd IAS:1977:UP), Mission Director, Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme may soon be concluded. Mittal, a former Secretary, Department of Financial Services was roped-in by the new government as MD, DBT Scheme on January 31, 2015 for a period of three months which was extended further. MD, DBT reports to Cabinet Secretariat. Reportedly, the PMO has made its mind to conclude his services by the end of this month.
DBT Scheme was envisaged by the previous UPA-II Government on January 01, 2013 with an objective to plug subsidy leakages by transferring subsidies directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries and reducing subsidies in effective manner.
Some top sources in power corridors foresee the move of concluding Mittal’s tenure as a backgrounder of another move.
