Amid ongoing top order appointments insiders in bureaucracy and PSUs still maintain their curiosity over Bharat Lal (IFS:1988), the incumbent Resident Commissioner of Gujarat Bhawan. Since he is set to complete his five years tenure as RC in Delhi the corridors of power is keenly watching whether he still maintains his proximity with PM or he will be back to Gujarat. If some credible buzz is any guide in any case his further deployment (back in state) and appointment (as Jt Secretary, GoI) will have to have PM’s nod.
The officer was one who had once captured the imagination of top rank bureaucrats as he could be watched accompanying country’s newly elected Prime Minister for months untill PMO was occupied by senior IAS officers. Once he was one of the most sought after officers and considered among ones who could be placed in PMO first. Even after PMO was fully in place many senior most bureaucrats used to make frequent visits to Bharat Lal before they got positioned on top. Those who know the affairs well say that probably PM still wants him to continue with his role as watchdog apart from his current assignment as RC.
Gossips go on because officers who matters want to know about the officer who matter. Thy name is “Corridors of power”.
