Asif Ibrahim is PM’s special envoy on counter terrorism

Former IB chief Asif Ibrahim (IPS:1977:MP) has been appointed as Special Envoy for counter terrorism and extremism in the National Security Council Secretariat .

He will be in the rank of Secretary to the Government and will hold the post for a period of three years or until further orders. He had retired as Intelligence Bureau Director in December last year.

He is having good contacts in West Asian states, which will help Government in evolving strategies to deal with radicalisation of youths in India due to rise of ISIS and security challenges in Af-Pak region.
