An 1986 batch IAS forecasted it 1st to Sinha as Seth’s successor: Gossips go on

Cabinet Secretariat

One may call it the far-sightedness of an officers but it is a tale of fortitude of an individual as well. And it’s true. Mere five days have passed when P K Sinha (IAS:1977:UP) took over the baton from Ajit Seth as country’s new Cabinet Secretary but sincere gossips over the making of new Cabinet Secretary still goes on.

‘Indianmandarins’ reliably learns that an 1986 batch IAS officer was probably the first one who had forecasted to P K Sinha during his Mumbai visit (in May 2014) that it would be none-other than him who would be picked up by the new PM for the coveted position. The person was so objective, clear and logical in his approach as if he could read the minds of Modi as what he would be looking for in an officer to be positioned on the top of Indian bureaucracy for next two years.

Though, the senior most officer witnessed the monologue quite silently but at the same time it left the mark of one’s guts-feel and courage. Finally it proved to be true on May 29, 2015.

Keep guessing. Gossips go on.
