A K Verma tipped for Delhi Police Commissioner, 04 names on panel

‘Indianmandarins’ reliably learns that Alok Kumar Verma (IPS:1979:UT), the incumbent DG (Tihar), is ahead in the race for Police Commissioner of Delhi. The incumbent CP Bhim Sain Bassi (IPS:1977:UT) is scheduled to retire on February 28, 2016. Bassi’s name has been in serious consideration for Member, Central Information Commission.

Lt Governor, Delhi Najib Jung is learnt to have sent a panel comprising four officers namely; Alok Kumar Verma (IPS:1979:UT), Karnal Singh (IPS:1984:UT), Deepak Mishra (IPS:1984:UT) and Dharmendra (IPS:1984:UT). Karnal Singh is heading the Enforcement Directorate whereas Deepak Mishra and Dharmendra are serving with Delhi Police as Senior Special Commissioner.

A K Verma, the senior most officer on the panel, has more than 18 months in hand to superannuate. In case the buzz proves true he will have more than 17 months long tenure to serve Delhi Police.
